If there is one landscape that symbolizes the United States, it is the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The national park covers 4930 km2. For millennia, the turbulent waters of the Colorado dug this impressive canyon with the help of wind and erosion.
It is today a gigantic geological history book, where the colorful layers of rock are stepped on more than 1,500 m from the edge of the canyon to the bottom of the gorge.
Built in 1932 on the model of the ancient Anasazi towers, Desert View Watchtower stands on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. On top of its 21 meters, it offers a magnificent view over the Grand Canyon and allows seeing Painted Desert towards the east.
